The Authors
Martyn Ford, writer and illustrator, hails from Sutton Coldfield in the West Midlands, while Peter Legon, writer and publisher, was brought up in Liverpool and Leeds. Both trained as EFL teachers and in the 1980s and 90s were colleagues at the same Brighton language school. Experiments in English Language comedy theatre led to the creation of Brighton's Leading Landlady, Mrs. Hoover, and in 1994 to the first Lee Gone publication Mrs. Joyce Hoover's How To Be British. Two years later, the first range of How To Be British postcards took their brand of humour to a wider audience. The How To Be British Collection (2003) has since established itself as a classic of the genre, consistently featuring in the lists of best-selling humour titles. The How To Be British Collection Two was published at the end of 2005. |
